Today’s Top Story Directions:
1. You will present (not read word for word from your sheet) an article to the class on the day assigned on the calendar.
2. Your article must be about an international story (something outside of the United States). It can involve the United States, but must include other countries as well.
3. The article cannot be more than three days old on the day you present it.
4. Articles must be from a print mainstream media source. This could be a newspaper (ex: Times Herald, Detroit Free Press, New York Times), news magazine (ex. = Time, Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report), or news website (ex. = cnn.com, foxnews.com, or msnbc.com)
5. You must turn in a copy of the article stapled to your Today’s Top Story presentation form on the day you present.
Point Values:
5 Points - Presentation in front of your classmates on the assigned day.
You must understand the topic well enough to speak coherently about it in front of the class. If I can tell you don’t get it, you will lose points.
You automatically lose 3 points if you are not ready to go on your assigned day. Not presenting is not an option.
5 Points – Thorough summary on your article
5 Points – Explanation of the significance of the event covered in the article.
You must make some kind of connection to your own life or to something we covered in class. If you cannot do this, find a different article.
